    Equipment

Sometimes overlooked, but equally important, is the DJ's equipment. Judgement should be used along with common sense to determine whether a DJ's system is designed well for your needs. My system is solid and dependable because I use professional audio equipment engineered especially for professional DJs. I have selected the various parts so that they complement each other to recreate the best sound possible. I don't use a laptop connected to living room speakers like an amateur DJ might. Instead I work with brand names such as Peavey, Numark, EV, Sony, American DJ, Bag End Yamaha, and Gemini which are designed to handle the rigors of the mobile DJ business. The full setup with 2 large speakers.

Here is a list of equipment I use:

    Standard

  • Yamaha CP-2000 Amplifier - Main 2000 W amp!
  • Peavey CS-400 Amplifier - 400 W of backup power.
  • Bag End AF1A-R Speakers - Crisp highs, pounding bass and ready to roll.
  • Small Speakers - Small set on stands used for backup or smaller rooms.
  • Cable - Plenty of speaker wire to put the sound where it's needed.
  • Numark CDN-34S Dual CD Player - Professional DJ player with antishock.
  • 2 Mics - one with penty of cable and one wireless.
  • Sony MDR-7506 Headphones - studio quality sound for cueing and mixing music.
  • Limbo Stick - Perfect size for that popular contest!
  • Trailer - To transport my setup to your event.

    Ready to DJ for you!

The right environment can make anyone want to get up and dance. That's why my system includes lights to excite and enhance the music. My effects lighting is professionally made for DJs by names such as American DJ.

Here is a list of lights I use:

    Main Effects Lighting

  • Elation - Many multicolored beams crisscross to the music.
  • Double Elation - Twice as many beams!
  • Scotty - Different shaped multicolored beams alternate to the music.
  • Mini Gem - Multicolored beams rotate to the music.
  • 4 Sparkles - White beams slowly rotate for slow songs and intros.
  • Par Can Colored Floodlighting - Colored dance floor lighting chases to the music.
  • Black Widow Laser - Draws patterns to the music.

    Other Effects I Sometimes Add:
  • Strobe Light - White light flashes rapidly for a stutter effect.
  • Rotating Beacon - Rotates around.
  • Black Light - UV light makes white things glow.
  • Traffic Light - Authentic NYC traffic light gives red, yellow, and green light.

Of course each of these effects
are highlighted with scented fog so
you can see all the light beams!
    What an effect!

Some less obvious characteristics of my setup should also be noted. First, you don't pay for set up time. My music will be playing by the contracted start time, usually before your guests arrive. I need an hour or less for setup and that won't count as hours used to determine the final payment. Second, I don't charge extra for lights since I bring all of my equipment and services to each event.* That includes an entire backup system with a mixer, amp, CD players, speakers, etc. This ensures the music never stops! Finally, the volume will be adjusted to fit your environment and needs- anywhere from subtle dinner music to rock concert sound!

*Private parties during the day may not need lights, so I have a special discounted rate for events without a light show or fog.
